I am trying to back up Xena final series final dvd from my collection. I go to DVD shrink and i have to open it by trac1 and then add track2. When I go to rip it, track1 goes ok then when it starts Track2 it freezes and gives me an error which says " Strange this dvd is not encryted but there is a CSS/CPPM failure"...I cannot get any further? Does anyone know how I can fix this to be able to rip to a new DVD? Thanks for your help.
What u need to do is use DVD Decrypter first to rip it too ur hard drive then u use the ripped hard drive version to shrink which then u can compress it. The reason u could do not do this b4 is because the preotection was still enabled and DVD Decrypter gets rid of that and then u can use DVD Shrink. U can download DVD Decrypter form aD http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/dvd_decrypter.cfm I hope that clears it up and helps keep me posted
Hi borhan9, Thanks for the speedy reply. I tried DVD Decrypter but it only downloaded Trac1 to my harddrive. See, the movie is split between Track1+2 by a blank (black) space, then Track2 starts and the rest of the movie plays. I guess it is part1 and part2. In DVD Shrink I see Track1+2 drag. I drag T1+2 over to the left side window and start the backup. I see Track1 in the movie box below play through, then blank (Black) frame comes in - fades - and the 2nd half of the movie starts and freezes - starts very slow - skips and then it times out and gives me the error css.
It should copy all tracks abd then with shrink choose track one but it should fownload both too the project if not high light both c if that wrks
Hi borhan9, I finally figured out the problem...the disc was so scratched up it would not burn fully. I took the suggestion from another link I visited were they said to clean the disc with toothpaste containing baking soda. Well!!! behold it worked. DVD Encryptor was able to save the movie to disk. Now, I have a new problem. DVD Shrink will format the files on disc and then when I try to burn it I get an error. It refers to Nero. I uninstalled nero. I amgoing to attemp it again. I will keep you posted. And THANKS!!!!! again for taking the time to answer me
Let me take u through the steps that i do and they wrk for mee. okay first 1) DVD Decrypter to ripp the entire disc to a folder on ur hard drive. 2) then create a new folder 3) use DVD Shrink to compress the files into the new folder u have just created (DVD Shrink calls this encoding) once this is done. 4) use nero to burn it as a DVD or u can change Decrypters mode to make it a burner and that will do the dame job. 5) the DVD should b completed.... Here are a few guides that can tell u the steps in more details in regards to the programs DVD Decrypter http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/small_dvd_2_dvdr.cfm DVD Shrink http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/dvd9_to_dvdr_with_dvd_shrink.cfm Bypassin DVD Protection http://www.afterdawn.com/news/archive/6651.cfm I hope that helps...
I get the same error, but while it is ripping to the HD? I have never seen this. DVD Decrypter says: Encription detected: File: VTS_03_1.VOB, LBA: 1125116. This disc is not supposed to be protected by CSS/CPPM so this is somewhat strange! Would you like to try and Decrypt the data? I select yes, it rips tot he HD, and When I got to the folder and try to see if it will play using Power DVD, it just plays a black screen. If I try to use DVD shrink: It cannot find the file? I have tried everything any help. The DVD is the upside of anger?
Hi DVDQS, I also ran into that problem. What I did was I would skip those files. Eventually I learned to tell the difference between the movie files and the other junk files. If it gives you an option to abort it, skip it, or ignor it use it.

Hi, I got some problem w/ "css/cppm" protection (on House of a flying dagger & Death of a salesman). After checking this thread, I tried DVD-Decrypter...yep, it can trick House of a flying dagger. However, I had no luck w/ Death of a salesman. I also tried DVD43...w/ the same result. So, after I google'ing on the Net, I found DVD-FAB. Gave it a try... Bingo !!! It by-passed "css/cppm" w/out a hitch, though it was a bit slow.
