    Here's the problem:

I have installed codecs which [bold]should[/bold] support 5.1 audio. I have also purchased the required cables to transmit the 5.1 audio to my home theater system. However, my crappy free DVD player software can not be set to use these codecs. However, the multimedia player I use for playing back everything except DVDs does support the codecs.

I would like to check if the cables and windows settings are working correctly (=able to play back 5.1 audio) before purchasing myself some decent DVD player software. For this, I need a 5.1 audio test file.

Google did not help me at all and thus I am asking you guys: could someone help me get my hands on a working 5.1 test clip which would use all of the channels? It doesn't have to be long: about 10 seconds should be enough, as long as you tell me at roughly what point each channel should be in use.

    Thanks in advance.

Addition: the file format can be just about anything. After all, my intention is primarily to check the hardware settings, not the codecs.

Even a 4.0 test clip would do for starters (to check the rear left and rear right channel).
