If you want your backups for: Total stand alone compatability-95%+ 99+% success rate Solid burn Booktyping for the plus format media. Benq 1640
You'll need this program for the booktyping, and also look for the latest firmware update: http://www.benq.us/Products/DVDRewriter/index.cfm?product=572&page=specifications Click on Service and support to find the program for the fw update and q-suite.Keep that site bookmarked in your favorites. Booktyping-also known as bitsetting- is the altering of the plus format into the dvd-rom format. This works on +r/+rw/and +r DL. This booktyping fools those picky stand alones/game consoles/and other pc dvd drives into recognizing backups. This will give you 3 different formats alltogher to find the right format for your players. Very handy if you plan on playing those backups on a lot of stand alones. You can only booktype plus media only. Not all burners support this feature, and some that do are still poor. With the benqs, those backups should play just about anywhere. That's why I don't burn the dash format anymore. My booktyped backups kick a**,compared to my dash backups. What version is your PS2 console? One of the older V1 or V2 is about the only drive that wouldn't recognize my booktyped or dash backup on a buddies ps2. That's off my 1620. I'll have to send him something to see if the 1640 backups will play in it.
