Any help will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
, There is the problem right their!! Get a decent power supply and 3ghz should be a walk in the park. Regards, crowy.
The PSU could be one of NZXT's, but it could also not be. NZXT's low end PSUs aren't that good anyway, but your motherboard is more likely to be the problem. This is a prebuilt PC, presumably by a company like Cyberpower, which means the mobo will be an EVGA 680i or Asus Striker Extreme, both are known to be poor boards for overclocking Quad core processors. You should really get a good PSU, but I'd say a new motherboard would solve your problem, something like a GA-EP35-DS3R. Bear in mind if you do this you will probably have to reinstall windows.
Sam,I thought this is his board? ASUS P5N32-E SLI. Also check the stepping(revision)of your cpu.If it's the GO or slacr revision your already in front due to their lower power consumption.Have you given the cpu a little more voltage?Just keep an eye on the temps. http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets/intel/showdoc.aspx?i=3066 Regards, crowy.
thanks guys...i actualy went with bios version 1203 and was able to get a completely stable 2.88ghz just setting to ai oc to 20% in bios. thanks again!
So it was, my mistake. That's probably one of the better 680i boards, but realistically a Q6600 should easily get to the 3.3-3.4Ghz mark.
Sam with all the threads your subscibed to,a glitch here and there is acceptable!!!LOL!! Take care buddy, Hope the weather over there is better than here!! regards, crowy.
It's a bit meh over here right now, was compratively very hot earlier this week, peaking at 25C (77F) hot and sunny. Today was grey and overcast and only about 20C I'd say... Oh well, at least it's not raining.... yet.
