I have a dell dimension 4700. I am currently using it as a server and I already am using the 2 SATA ports, but only have 1 IDE port. I recently got a 120 gb IDE hard drive but my 2 cd rom drives are using the only IDE cable. The motherboard only has 1 IDE port, but i was told it can support up to 4 IDE devices. Is there such thing as a IDE ribbon with 4 connectors on it. Or if i can do anything else. I have to keep the cd rom drives though.
1:delete your email address as against forum rules. 2:look at your motherboard to see if have 2 40pin connectors on it as they will give you 4ide drive connections. 3:if have only 1 40pin connector on motherboard then get a pci ide card so can connect more drives 4:they don't make 3 or more connections on ide as compared to scsi as ide uses master & slave whereas scsi uses id#s
