I am trying to burn backups on my desktop computer using DVD Shrink 3.0 beta 5 and nero 6. I have a sony dvd-rw. Here is the thing I use the same programs and a sony dvd-rw on my laptop and have no problems at all, but when i use the desktop the standalone dvd player says disk error. What can be the problem? desktop PIII 800 Mhz---laptop P4 2.66 GHZ
hi not sure but have you installed aspi layer? althogh nero has its own! but do you have the codecs needed on one and not the other? different programs load codecs! thx
Like Rotary said, it is probs your ASPI layer. Mkae sure you install/update to the latest build. Get your ASPI drivers here: http://download.com.com/3000-2098-10219041.html Also if you wanna convert non DVD movies like DivX/XviD, you have to have the correct codecs installed and do a seperate conversion process. Good luck
thanks i will try that...the only thing is that i didnt do anything to the laptop or desktop that is why i was confused.
hi i think what we are trying to establish that all appz/programs and setup is EXACTLY !!! the same on each computer? if not it could be say you loaded an app which maybe you dont use that loaded all codecs or aspi? like nero powerdvd? also are we talking same media type? same film does not work? or diferent film? were the setttings in nero and dvd shrink the same? thanks for the help, here is some more info if it helps. I installed the same version and didnt change any of the settings of shrink or nero. I used the same media fujifilm +R, and it was on the same film. I tried two of them. i did nothing with the aspi layer on either one of them. the only thing that i can see is different is the burner itself, they are different model numbers, but both made by sony. Do you think that because of this i am having my problems and should try and change the media? Also, if i want to take the aspi layer off of the drive how would i go about doing that? i just dont understand it.
ASPI drivers are used for an interface between your DVD drives etc and your DVD software. These are important files which make all the difference when backing up DVDs. Get ASPI drivers here: http://download.com.com/3000-2098-10161912.html Make sure that they are up-to-date on the machine which is causing the problem. Also, make sure that the drive has windows burning engine not selected. This has caused problems before when using alternative burning software. To turn off windows cd burning, goto My Computer, Right click on your DVD writer, Select properties, Select the recording tab and disable Windows CD Recording, Done! See if that helps
thanks for the help i got it to work i installed the layer and changed media. I used TDK -R and worked like a charm. Again thanks for the help
