So, for the second time in a year I've had an external DVD-RW drive burn out on me. The first being a Pioneer 106 and the second a Sony DRX-510UL. I got around 300 burns out of each of them, but I'm looking for something more. What should I do...? 1) buy a desktop complete w/ an internal drive. *possibility... www.ibuypower.com/ibp.net/store/configurator.aspx?mid=83 2) give another external drive a chance with my laptop. 3) something other than the previous 2 Even if it means having to buy a new machine all together, I'm willing to do just about anything to find something that will last me at least a year or two without burning out. Are there any burners out there right now that won't burn out so easily? Please give me any ideas you might have. Thanks for your help!
Yes, my laptop has a dvd-rom drive. I mainly used the dvd-rom in the laptop to decrypt movies to my hard drive then the external to do the burning. I rarely used the external for anything but burning. As a side-note, the burnt-out Sony drive still reads fine, just doesn't burn.
Well thanks for the advice on that computer. I'm starting to run into the money issue, however. Although that is a pretty decent deal, and a great computer, I'll most likely have to buy something a little (like $500) cheaper.
Sure thing, drop by http://forums.afterdawn.com/forum_view.cfm/111 and we'll spec out a system for whatever price range you need *Praetor runs off to yell at soundcard*
