I just got an ipod video...and i dont know how to get a video on it that i've downloaded from limewire or something. Everytime i try to import it..it nothing happens. I've even tried putting it in its own file and then actually going to File-----> Add Folder To Library. That didnt do anything either. And how do you check to see if its even compatible for the ipod. Im so confused. =/

Check the guides out on the top of the forum. If your file is an mpeg 4 and has a resolution of less then 240x320 and a bitrate of under 700 your ready to go. If this doesn't help I'm sorry, my heads not quite with me right now but I'll bback tommorow :)

    Hello shitocky, welcome to afterdawn!

Use Videora iPod Converter. This is a free application that will convert videos such as AVI, mpeg, etc. to mp4 format, which is the format used by the iPod Video. Even if the video off of Limewire is already compatible with the iPod, I would suggest running it through the converter anyways to get the best settings.

A download can be found here: http://www.videora.com/en-us/Converter/iPod/

    Link for a tutorial: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/244629
Scroll down a bit, and there is a tutorial about Videora at the bottom of the original post.

    Enjoy!

    shitocky,

Even though it is unlikely videos downloaded from limewire will play on your iPod without being transcoded, they should play on iTunes if they are mp4's. I suggest you try shortening the length of the name of your files, and then try & import.

iTunes seems to refuse videos with long names, I believe that it is another attempt by Apple to dissuade iPodders from transcoding their own videos and instead download from iTunes. Anyway, it's worth a try. Keep us posted if you have any sucess.
