I am new here so forgive me if I am asking in the wrong place, I tried to make sure I wasn't. I read a topic about changing avi to mpg and found all the suggestions in there really helpful. I downloaded TMPGEncoder to encode an avi file of LOTR I downloaded from Kazaa. I have a problem though, the movie came in three files, I got the first one and last already on disk, but the second has something wrong. When it reaches a certain part of the movie, it freezes, sound continues but the picture freezes, if you fast forward it a bit then it continues playing. When I was trying to encode that file with TMPGEncoder it stopped at that same trouble spot and TMPGEncoder stopped responding and I had to close it. I tried it twice and same thing happened again. Is there anything I can do to make the program skip that frame? Please tell me there is something I can do... hehehe, thank you for your patience and all your help.
well , if tmpgenc freeze at the same part , it's the movie that has been encode that way or a bad reception in kazzaa. all you can do is to cut manually the freezing part . take a paper , write the time when it freeze , open your mpeg in vcdcutter , then mark your movie to cut.( ps you can't cut the wrong part , you gotta cut the good part ;so before and after the wrong part.) after you cut all the part , use tmpgenc to join them.( file--)mpeg tools--)merge and cut.) hope this help good luck
The problem with using Kazza is there are to many fake/damaged files going around and because it downloads the files in sections from different users it only takes one to be damaged or incomplete to ruin the whole file, WinMx is only slightly better but if you want good quality avi movies for converting to Vcd/Svcd use Mirc to join DivxHq, you should find the movies you want but it is a little more complicated to use.
What is DivxHq? Thank you for the advice. I don't mind so much about the quality, I just wanted to have it until the DVD comes out, I plan on buying it anyway. I am just a big fan and love the movie!
