In the computer eide 1 is primary it has a blk one and a grey one what goes to blk and what goes to grey? then it has another eide 2 i guess thas where you hook up floppy?
It don't matter how you set it up, as long as you make sure that your hard drives/cdroms are jumpered properly (one master and one slave per IDE cable). If your going to go the "cable select" route than it makes a difference where you hooked them up. I always use the jumpers, and decide how I will connect my hard drives/cdroms on whats the best way to route the IDE cable so it won't be twisted or stretched out to far. I've never had any problems, where my computer wouldn't boot up. The only problems I ever had was when I had 2 masters on one IDE cable. When windows starts up, it's not particular on which IDE slot it'll boot from, it usually checks IDE slot 1 first if it doesn't find a bootable partition it'll go to IDE slot 2.
