I've used Nero 6 (Nerovision 3) to burn dvds from video files for a long time and it has worked nearly perfectly until recently. I have successfully made hundreds of dvds using this version of Nero on my machine. I haven't been able to figure out why, but recently the burn process will now abort every time, with the message "i/o error in dvd engine". I have a Toshiba SDR5372V dvd drive, and I have updated to the latest firmware. Here is my most recent error log. Thank you very much for your speedy and very thorough reply. I did almost everything you suggested - I adjusted the speed to 8x, updated the ASPI and I removed Roxio. I did not roll back to 6.6.0.18, although I downloaded the file and may do that in the future if I encounter any more problems. I also did not change the DVD media that I've been using. In any event, doing the things I did at your suggestion seems to have fixed my problem, since my last attempted burn was successful. Thanks again for your help, I really appreciate it.
It is hard to tell with media. Different burners like diffferent media. Much depends on firmware updates. I use Ritek +R and have had few problems. Good luck!
