After reading through the posts that regarded getting and I/O error using DVD Decrypter and installing Directx 9.0; im still getting an error burning a DVD. Can someone please help a relative newbie....i beg of you....

using WindowsXP (home)/ AMD 1.8 Gz processor
Lite-on LDW451s (with latest ASPI layers installed)

Been able to use DVD Decryptor & DVD Shrink to burn other DVD's but this one is getting personal...

Thanks for any help you can sling my way...

    wicki,

Where is the I/O erroe coming from ?

    Decrypter, Burner or HD ?

Don't just write something down - READ the error -

When you use Decrypter next time, un-tick the "Verify" box - it's located under the Destination on the main page -

    "P"

Will most definitely give that a try......I am going to sit down and go step-by-step through this process and write my steps. Hopefully this will help in future requests for help....

    Thanks Scuba

wicki, welcome to our little Club,

Give this a try my friend, it should set you right up :)

I always create a folder for my backup. When you do it, try to put it someplace where you won’t forget it -

When you get ready to do another backup, go into DVD Shrink, click “Edit”, then click “Preferences” under the “File I/O Tab” un-tick “Enable burning with Nero” then click “OK”

When time comes to select “Backup”, take just a second and under “Target Device” go to “Select target device” once there, select “ISO Disc Image”. [bold]NEXT[/bold] tick “Launch DVD Decrypter to burn the output image” box. Finally, where it says “Select target image file”, browse till you find your created folder for your Backup and place it there, That’s it ! Click “OK” and DVD Shrink burns that ISO image there.

Re-check all your settings, you should be fine - Save yourself some writting, hit print and print this mesage :D)

    Enjoy,

    Pete

    Hey Scuba,

Thanks for the warm welcome and all the help so far! One thing though, in the prior reply you said:

"When you use Decrypter next time, un-tick the "Verify" box - it's located under the Destination on the main page"

When im in Decrypter; i cant find a "verify" or a "Destination" box/applet to un-tick anywhere in the program... HELP!!

    using DVD Decrypter 3.2.1......

    Thanks again....

    wicki,

You have to be in ISO mode and you must be in the write mode. - It's where you'd be in preparation for either doing an ISO read / write (for DVD-5's) or where you'd be to write after backing up a DVD-9 to burn to disc. Left side of the page, 1/2 way down - trust de ScubaPete, it's really there -

    Hey Scuba,

Your right! ...i was in File Mode...found the box when i switched over to ISO write.....but it was unchecked already. Should I be doing ISO write/read instead of File method like i was doing?

    Thanks a bunch....

The new way of doing things is, - Open with DVD Shrink, use that to rip and compress, backup following these directions and let Decrypter burn ISO to disc :)

Copy the directions given in my other post and add this one to it - It will then take you from start to finish :)

When you're finished with DVD Shrink - this will show you the way with Decrypter -

Fire up DVD Decrypter - and under “Mode”, select “ISO” then “Write” - under “Source”, select your folder that you had DVD Shrink put the ISO files in. Then, select “Destination” as your Burner - holding your DVD media (and after all my efforts it had better be either Ritek G04 or Verbatim. Now is [bold]defiantly
not the time[/bold] to put your crappy Cheap stuff in - ) If you don’t know what I’m talking about - you better go back to reading these forum threads and seeing all the crappy media complaints - OK, time to move on (switching to the moving on mode - click, %@# rattle - snap, - #%@-Ouuuch, S@it, that hurt - , OK, I got it -CRUnch&#$ ) - - Moving on -
Now click the HD to Disc icon that lets DVD Decrypter burn that ISO Image to your waiting blank media !!

Ok then wicki, you should be finer than frog hair -

Let me know how you made out -

    Pete

Hey there little Buddy, hang in there, we’ll get it cleaned up :)

First, I’m going to take an educated guess and guess that you have Roxio Easy Creator on your PC. It is a terrible, terrible program, uninstall it. It has caused more trouble than a pack of hungry wolfs at a Hamburger cookout. After you have uninstalled it, reboot your system to really “kick it out”. Next go to msconfig and un-tick MS Messenger and everything else except your McAfee or Norton programs. I want your PC to have the maximum resources available when DVD Shrink calls upon them. Also, it is most super-douper important to have you watch your computer from a distance of 35 feet, 6-1/2 inches. I need that ½ inch, the fate of the free world depends on it :D) In other words, don’t use your PC for ANYTHING while it is processing your DVD and even more important, when you are burning. Backing up DVD’s isn’t easy work for a PC, it needs total concentration.

Lets see what happens with that -
    Pete
