i/o magic internal dvd+/- 16x dual format double layer burner wont reconize dvd+'s

ok i just got a new dvd burner and it does everything else fine with out a hitch but it wont reconize dvd + dvd's read or write in my computer it just says the drive is empty no disc no matter what i try i found a prefrences menu somewhere that let me pick what discs i want my comp to reconize before i installed this burner but i didnt have to mess with it then cause i could only use dvd- dvd's then anyway but 12 hours and no hair left 'later i still cant for the life of me find it again any help would be great thanx in advance ED-D
