I put DVD in my LG gce 8400b and...

    I put DVD rom in my LG gce 8400b, after that divice not working, I can see it from windows but when I go in Bios he can not recicnize.
    What I can do? I allrady try to update firmware and install frcAspi.

    windows shouldn't see drive if bios doesn't unless you see it in post than windows will see drive. if have a win98 or me bootdisk available, boot computer with it with cdrom support than see if can read a disk. reseat cables on both drives. put jumper on dvdrom as master(on back of drive) & set jumper as slave for cd burner. restart system & windows should see both rom drives

    The LG GCE-8400b is a CD-RW drive. You propably killed it trying to use it with incompatible media, the laser head is very likely to be damaged. New similar drives cost, what, ~30? by now, so you're better off replacing it.

    But come on really. There's a CD-RW logo and NO DVD-R/RW logo in front of the disc tray on purpose .)
