Hard drives sometimes die was this a replacement hard drive or the original? And how old is your system? And lastly is the fans and cooling areas free of dust and debris ?
ya it's the original and actually it is like 2 years old lol hehe guess this in an excuse to get a 360 haha
that is, you can also recover the system by adding a modchip and installing a new hd or a similar size drive to your xbox. So dont throw out your xbox just yet. Also they have somewhat hacked the 360 and it can play backup media...
But a modded xbox is so very worth the cost of a chip. Heck you could get a DUOX2 modchip for $16.99 and you could pickup a used xbox drive the size of your current drive for another $5 - $10 much cheaper then the 360. But hey if that idea doesnt float your boat PM me and Ill be more then happy to buy your system off you... thatll give you some more funds towards the 360 purchase
sorry to but in, but you could also check out http://www.hddunlock.com/ any harddrive under 20gb's they'll unlock it for free (if it is locked that is). or you could also sell it. i dont know where youre from but here they are having a special on at EB Games, if you trade in your xbox you get the value of its worth(65$) plus an extra 100$ to go twards your 360 (store credit only). but thats only for a working xbox, so you could try to fix it and sell it before it breaks again ;P and also http://www.llamma.com/xbox/xbox.htm will pay good money for a broken xbox. just thought that id pass on that information. good luck fixing it/finding a buyer.
We would be more then happy to buy this unit, and it would be helping support afterdawn as we are a sponsor and such
7 - kernel - HDD timeout Most of the times, the IDE cable is not properly connected when you see this error. Please reattach the ide cable. Not only to the harddisk drive but also to the dvd drive. ALso try to reconnect the ide cable to the motherboard. Press pretty hard so it goes all the way in. Make sure it is seated straight and proper in the drives and the motherboard. If you still have an error 7. Try another ide cable. If that won't work try another harddisk. If there is still no go, try to set the jumpers on the rearside of the harddisk drive. Set it to master or cable select. If still no succes, then your SOL! you can get a new 250GB HDD off of Newegg.com for like $85 and the DuoX2 chip is what i have and it works great. but that is up to you really.
