Ok, i am a newbie. I have the shrink, decrpter, roxio and blah blah. I have already ripped two dvds but I'm having issues with larger files. I tried to just burn the movie itself with dvd shrink, but the files can't be found because they aren't in iso files yet, they are in crappy mds. So everytime i try to burn a file i get a window that says "failed to open video_ts.ifo cannot find file." My Question is, is there an easier way to compress movies under 4 GB then shrink? I know it's easy for most, but I'm stupid when it comes to this crap.
You should be able to do the whole compression process by using DVD Shrink. It will create the ISO for you and you can use a ripping program to rip the ISO to dvd. If Shrink doesn't like the dvd for whatever reason, try using decrypter first, and then shrink to compress the files into the ISO. Both decrypter and shrink are awesome programs, I have used them both many times in the process of backing up my dvds. You can bypass shrink if you have a writing program that both compresses and burns the dvd, but I would recommend going with Shrink and decrypter all the way. Combined with Nero, it's really a one-stop shop.
hey, i figured out my problem. i am trying to burn movies that are bigger than 4000 mbs. but now i'm wondering where i can pick up blank dvd discs that hold bigger space than 4000 mbs. plus im wondering how i can figure out if a movie will be bigger than 4000 mbs before i rent it or buy it. (commerical dvds)
For movies over 4.36MB, you need to use DVD Shrink to make them fit. http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/dvd9_to_dvdr_with_dvd_shrink.cfm The only discs available larger than 4.7GB are dual-layer discs and you need a DL burner to use them. _X_X_X_X_X_[small] JMLS-166S/Plextor PX-708A/Plextor Premium[/small]
i did try to use dvd shrink, and i took off the credits at the end of the movie, and all the extras. I tried to just burn just the movie itself, and it's still too big. i was just wondering if there was any other way to burn these movies to a disk in the allowed space.
i don't have nero i have roxio software. if someone could give me some info that would be cool. it gets confusing sometimes trying to decifer the steps that they give you for nero in my roxio software.
