I want to convert mpeg1 to divx

    I have recorded some live tv with my ati card and the only way I can get a good picture is to record it to mpeg1 and it taks up about 8mb a sec of video.I want to compress to divx so it will be smaller than 10 minutes on one cdr.Please help

    Not sure if this is the most efficient/easiest way but open the mpeg1 up in VirtualDub, select a compression codec (under the video menu), select DivX (or whatever codec fancies you), specify a bitrate and then save the AVI somewhere.

    You can determine the bitrate to use with any of the bazillions of bitrate calculators out there.
