I see that so many of us newbies have the same problem about burning out a DVD with menu, but all we have is the .VOB files. The directions that show to create a working .ifo that have chapter in there. If someone done this it would so such help to all us newbies.
If you have a VOB file but no IFO or BUP then all you Need is a DVD authoring program and Load your VOB into it and add your Menu"s and Chapters and it will format it all into a "Video_TS" folder which it then burns to DVD or you can do it yourself useing Nero in DVD Video Mode..... Anytime you have a VOB or a Mpeg-2 file then all you need is a DVD authoring program to put the files on to DVD....
Hi. Ive been having similar problems, for weeks now trying to burn this one movie project i made of a wedding onto a dvd. My computer is a HP Pavillion notebook, running Windows XP SP2. I created project with Windows Movie Maker, and burned it into a wmv as the only other option was to save it as an avi file, which would have been way to huge. Now Ive tried using NeroVision Express 2 and its related programs, Sonic MYDVD,TMPGE, and Blaze Media Pro. NONE of these programs are working. The farthest Ive been able to do is to convert the original wmv format movie file into an mpeg2 using TMPGE 3.0 Express & DVD Author 1.6 to try to burn it into a DVD rom with menus, etc - but it does not play on my dvd burner, and does not display on my computer dvd player as a dvd, just created a volume 1 folder on my hardrive - which contains one video_TS & one Audio-TS folder. The audio folder is for some reason empty (and though one of the attempted burned dvds will play on my computer but without the dvd startpage, menu, dvd interactiveness - the audio is gone in its playback from dvdr), and the video-TS folder contains 2 .BUP files (one prefix VIDEO_TS & other VTS-01-0, 2 IFO files, and 6 VOB files. Why cant i just bring in my original wmv format, OR the converted video using TMPGE which seperated it into two files - one a .m2v file and the other a .wav file. Documentation and programs say i can simpply bring these two files into my dvd creation and burning software, create my desired menus, themes, background image menu, etc then select create dvd and it should work - should burn correctly into a dvd which is then interactivaly veiwable on a home dvd player, as well as computer dvd player. Anyone know what is going wrong here? Why wont they burn correctly into dvd? One of the errors ive received when trying the lame MyDVD software to burn either the wmv format or from the mpeg format to interactive DVD shows a red circle with white X in it and says "Could not complete the last command because: Invalid stream file type (DVDErr,-19931). Okay, I dont understand why or what that means and how to fix it? Why dont any of these programs just burn the formats simply and effectively like they claim to? Its been two weeks now Ive been tring to get this video to make to dvd, when it should have been just a couple friggin minutes.! HELP? And when trying to burn using Nero from an wmv version of my video converted mpeg2, it too does not work. Well Most DVD Burned at 8x speed will Not play back properly in a Standard DVD player well it might play but not for very long as when Burning at 8X speed there is a Huge Chance of Burn errors which your DVD Player will Instantly Choke on....I suggest that you maybe Re-Burn your project But this Time at 2x speed and your DVD will probably Play in your DVD player especially if you can Play it on your PC.... Also WMV Format is one of the Worst formats (Becides maybe Mov and RM) to try to convert to DVD format and it"s Quality is Just awefull compared to other Formats.....If you plan on Trying to put more of your Camcorder Footage on to DVD i suggest that you Drop "Windows movie Maker" as it is awefull software and it Traps you into useing there Crappy WMV format..... Maybe you should Invest in some Real Editing Software that will allow you to save your Projects in a Format other than WMV Like Maybe directly to Mpeg-2 which you then just have to author to DVD .... Good Luck
Thank you for your advice. Yes, I agree about the proprietary nuisance of windows movie makers wmv format. Ive complained about this in the wmm forum hosted by microsoft, to scathing responses by their techs. Oh well. I dont have alot of money to be buying more software though. Any recommendations on such effective, efficient and userfriendly programs? Preferably free ones. Yes, I totally agree that being able to save my movie creations directly to mpeg 2 and related, versatile movie formats is much preferred in a program.
Well Why don"t you PM (Private message) Me with your E-mail address and I will Look for something for you to use and then get back to you with a Link or an attachment so you can use Better Editing Software that is Hopefully free.... Sound Good?? Cheers
Thank you for the offer. Though I feel it would be better to include any such links and programs here, that way everyone could have such knowledge and access to them. Im sure Im not the only one with interest in such programs.
Well the Thing is it I find something for you say something I have on Disk I would have to Package it up and e-mail it to you and I don"t feel Like Sending every one and there dog an attachment..... Also I might have a retail Version of some editing software on disk here somewere (I have More software than you can Shake a stick at) in which case I would need your Mailing address so i could send it to you.... I not only Work as a Video editor But I also Build Computer sysmtems from Scratch and sell them so i get Loads of OEM software that Comes with the Hardware that i build the Systems from so I have Stacks of disks of different Editing and DVD authoring Programs ect which is probably what I would send you Or I would upload it on a server for you to download but I couldn"t let everyone download it or the server would get Hammered too much and I don"t feel Like Paying the Postage for sending everyone a OEM software disk even if it is Christmas..... I have Like 5 Copies of the "Cyberlink DVD Suite" and I have a few Copies of the Nero 6 Ultra edition OEM Disk and a Bunch more stuff that you could Possibly have...I think I even have a Retail Copy of "Adobe Premier 6.0" on OEM Disk That Came with my Pinnacle DV500 Editing Card and I have a OEM copy of "Adobe Premier Elements v1.0" that you could Have...... As You can see I am Willing to do you a pretty Big Favor which I have also done For other members but I can not do this for every one, ..... So if you are still interested then you know what to do...... Cheers
