    Hello,
I figured this was the best forum & best section to post for the issue that I have. I have a Dell Vostro 430 with the i7 860 Quad core processor. This processor should have hyper threading which should show 8 threads in the Windows Task Manager - but I only see my 4 cores? I don't understand as it is enabled in the bios, my friends PC shows all 8 threads and I've read about hyper threading and it should practically double my performance. Is there something wrong with my hardware? - Do I enable it somewhere?

Your answers would be greatly appreciated.

In msconfig, have you altered the boot.ini settings? I had set it to 4 for my Core 2 Quad but when i upgraded to an i7 860, windows showed 2 cores+2threads making me think HT was disabled.

Also check in to clearing cmos. I imagine even OEM PCs have this capability on the mobo, and checking for bios updates may be a good idea to.

It might be a glitch in the bios...sometimes you have to disable hyperthreading in the bios because the bios rom was written by someone who does not speak english...I had to disable virtualization in my bios in order to enable it.

Sounds like the Motorola Backflip. I ha to format mine, and not only did the instructions on Motos site not work, when you follow the prompts to hit the up or down volume button, it is backwards on the screen, so if you hit up, it says you hit down, and vice versa lol.
