ID sound card capability

    Just picked up a Memorex DVD+/-DLRWL1, noticed that it requires a videw and sound card capable of DirectX version 8. How do I go about figuring that out on my desktop - it's a no-name tower, Pentium III.
    I just use computers, I don't claim to understand them.

    at the run line, type dxdiag to see what version comes up as in 8.1 or higher. then check the video & soundcard tabs at the top & do the tests.
