i messed up my original 40 conductor ide cable by pinching it between the case and the hard drive when i closed the xbox. does any one know if it would be ok to use a 80 conductor ide cable in place of the original 40 conductor ide cable?? THANX
i would prefer not to fusk up my xbox in the process thats why im asking if its ok to use and 80 conductor
it should work fine the 80 pin conductor does the same thing that a 40 pin does but at a much faster rate.since the xbox does not support this faster rate it just clocks back.
just for any one else reading, u can use an 80 conductor cable as long as it is long enough and some cables have one of the conductors removed, the only diference between a 40 wire and a 80 wire is that the 80 wire has an extra wire in between the each of the signal conductors so as to reduce interference between conductors so that they run at a faster ata133 speed which doesn't matter on xbox
