Illegal disc error in Nero

    Ok...I don't know much about Nero but it was working just fine then it quit burning the discs. I have tried using different brands of discs and it has not worked. I saved the log from the failed disc. This is not the first time I have gotten this error...it has happened on different files as well. I was able to do them fine on a different computer but I need to get mine set right. Please help. Thanks.

    Illegal disc is usually due to the media not being supported by the drives firmware. The drive will use a generic write pattern that is not always successful.

    Here's a firmware update for the drive - 1.0A. It from 2005 so I don't know how much support it will give for 16x media.

    For this drive look for 8x and under media. It also might not be a bad idea to just go ahead and replace it - a good LiteOn or Pioneer runs about $35 (US) at newegg.com
