Hi I have just ripped and saved my first DVD's with DVD Shrink. I followed all the instructions on the relavant pages in these forums, but when it came to burn my project onto DVD-R with Nero 6, i got a message saying 'illegal disc' when the burn process started and i could not go any further. My DVD RW is meant to support the discs i have purchased (DVD-R) so why won't Nero 6 burn anything ??? Bad DVD-R's or have i done something wrong ?
1) If the last thing u burnt was a CD, Nero may still be set to CDr mode, or it may be looking at a wrong drive altogether. If it is, it would view your DVDr as an illegal disc. Everyone with Nero has made that mistake at some point. 2) If the files you are trying to burn are not perfectly authored and ready for burning, it may view it as an illegal disc. 3) If you are using R or RW media that is not blank, it can show up as an illegal disc. I realise u sed yer using R media, but hey, people make mistakes. 4) The only other thing I can think of at the moment would be the cheapo media issue. If you don't use good quality name brand media, a miriad of problems can and often do occur. My 2 cents.
Try to upload the latest firmware for your drive. This did the trick for my NEC ND1300a DVD drive. Nero was not at fault (I use the latest upgraded version 6). I had no problem before I swopped to cheap DVDr's. But my Paradox (Mirror) DVDr's now work after my firmware upgrade. www.nec.com optical drives page. On the other hand your drive may not be able to use those discs!
