how can you not know if you have a legal copy of Nero or not? Did you purchase it? Do you have a disc for it? To answer your question a little better, just because you get an illegal disc error does not mean that you have a pirated copy of Nero. In fact, if they had detected that you had a pirated copy, you would have never gotten as far into the burn as you did. There is another problem here. Is your firmware for the writer up to date?
As for the pirated comment, could be a guilty conscience...only you would know. Current version is 1.01 from here: http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1697 MBI isn't the best when it comes to DVD media, not sure about CD's though. Try the firmware update to see if you get any joy. The rest of the log could prove useful as well.
