I have the ilo dvdr04 and was very happy with it until it went dead. I had received one in Dec. 04 for a present, it stopped reading disc. Wal-Mart honored it only because the Ilo DVDR05 was coming out. Well the replacement (another DVDR04) went dead; Stuck on Hello. I called Ilo customer service and they stated that there was really nothing wrong with the first unit...Duh! and now the problem I am having is a chip error. Can anyone help me with the "Hello Problem". Thanks. I am now writing nasty letters to ILO and Consumer reports, Ilo gives a one year warranty, BUY AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOLKS", and after that its on you and there is no room for discussion. What I am sayong here, there (ilo) products will normally last UP TO one year, then they fail. I like the Unit, can anyone suggest other than replacement (I have already done), I would like to use as a back-up. Redd
The 04 will lock at a HELLO display if the DVD drive is not being recognized for what ever reason. I don't know if this is the problem but is a main cause. Remember that [ilo is a Walmart Brand] reguardless who manufactured it If its a chip OK they should fix it but I don't think it is If you want the 04 and for many reasons, you should. I woulr go straight to a store manager and if necessary to WalMart in Texas. You will get satisfaction. If you want the hack and the fact that the 04 is non compliant DO NOT accept a 05 in exchange.
