    I have the RHD04

It sounds like you just bought the unit. [Was it in a non opened box].
Reson I ask is the 04 is a LiteOn product and it is discontinued and replacet by the 05, Cyberhome]. The 04 is a very good machine but it has become very hard to find. It may have been returned.
The RHD04 will operate, slow start up, without an operating HDD present, and record to a DVD. It may be the HDD itself or the connections to it. Give ilo support a PHONE CALL [ check http://ilohelp.com/ for toll free. Get Wal-Mart to fix it. Dont accept a replacement with anything but the RHD04. I unerstand that LiteON is selling the RHD04 under the LiteOn name as the LVW 5005X with AllWrite

    THANKS LCSGH
Ijust purchased the unit it was on layaway for awhile It was in a non opened box but it had been at our store since september04 and was manufactured in july 04. I called tech support and they said to replace it or send it in.I work at walmart and I had a guy in electronics do a search in our area and we found one of the excact models and they are sending a replacement to our store. I also have an r04 model on layaway also. I should have my rhd04 tommorow I will keep my fingers crossed that this one will be ok. I also have the hacked firmware to it a lot easyer to flash these units than computer parts.
thanks I will keep you posted.

    Sounds good
On another thread a person said that they found a ilo RHD04 for $228 at there local WALMart store. This is a very good machine. and at that price it would be a real bargan. I replied--- BUY IT
You work for WalMart and know the ropes. The RHD04 is more versatile and has beter editing featuers than the R04
    Some other sites
For info and hack --- http://www.nec2315.com/ilo/
    Fourms and info ----- http://www.techolio.com/
Look through the forums and at Guitarman firmware instructions. there are many issues at present concerning the LiteOn firmware upgrades and hack. He has varified that the latest firmware upgrade for the ilo will accept a Hack. A user should check carefully before making any changes to the system. The ilo at present, can be hacked and would appear to be Non-conpliant in the CP world

    GOOD LUCK

You can use the 04 as a player for the RHD04. I use a Combo Co video and a Cyberhome. I'm sure you know that its needed to dub a DVD to DVD
techolio. is a good site. I didn't connect it but Iv'e seen your nic on that site. Guitarman is a very informed member and has the RHD04.
Another good site is -- http://www.normediasolutions.com/ Its just getting started and has a lot of good people an info.

I don't know if you have already returned this machine yet, and if you may have already tried this, BUT . . .

. . . did you try reformatting the hard drive? I had this error come up after doing an update, was getting messages that I had to contact support, etc., and that was all I needed to do in order to get things running again.

Anyhew, like I said, don't know if you've already swapped the unit, or if you've already tried this and it didn't work, but thought I'd pass it along.
