Ok, I got my modchip, i soldered everthing correctly, but what do i find. A little part of the curcuit board burnt right infront of the v5 part. The burnt spot was tiny. so i thought i doesnt matter. when i put on the gc, the disc wasnt spinning, and thew original bios were there. So i resoldered everything 5 TIMES, same thing came up. So i just desoded everything. I tried to see if my gamecube qworks, AND IT DID. so im reeleaved, and a bit angry on spending 50$ on a useless modchip. Ayone wanna buy a Qoob Modchip the comes with a soldering iron, and solder? The modchip works, but as i said b4, the curcuit boards burnt. [bold]BUT NOW IM DONE WITH MODDING BC I ALLMOST F**** UP MY GAMECUBE, BUT IT WORKS, fewh[/bold] BEWARE FOR ANYONE WHOS GUNNA GET A MODCHIP. Get it professionally installed, or get a premodded system. pAIn iN THe @$$
GC and Xbox are easy to install a chip in. The hard one is PS2 with it's 17+ wire installs. Everyone loves to complain about how hard the 5v solder point is, but the PS2 has about 8 spots that are even harder to solder wires to. I may have actually destroyed my v2 PS2 trying to install a Duo2 SE. I might just have a rosin bridge somewhere on the IC legs for all I know. In any case, I decided to just store it for now and bought a slim PS2 along with a flip top and Swap magic 3.6 since I have no desire to try a chip again. Out of curiosity, did you burn the qoob Pro or the GC motherboard? I don't remember ever having to solder anything onto the qoob itself.
When there is burned some little spot, it does'nt mean that there has'nt happened any harm. There might been some short circuit and some chip have maybe burnt, or capacitor. I think some capacitor has maybe burnt more likely. If there's electrolytecondensators on board, i suggest checking them first does they have bloated or something. If there is gone capacitor broken, and u want to fix it, when replacing, uF must be same that original's and voltage tolerance more than 5V. If one of the big chips has got broken, forget it. And by the way... have u installed Qoob BIOS even before u tried to boot? =)
