been told 30-40 quid to reflash the new lakey pro image on or add the fix to my existing image

Now i have no tv its driving me nuts so just wanna check this is about right

Yes i have tried it myself but can never connect something about route to host and i dont have all these special cables null modem all that stuff so presume this is why it wont connect

    Is 30-40 about right?

why would i advertise for someone? i was asking advice why would i spam a board thats helping people? i managed to get my channels back manually by using the remote guide using bigmaq but now when i put the recent 18th ones in it still shows blank channels so for some reason thats not working now i studied and stuidied and tryed to apply the fix using ethernet cable from box to pc and it will not do it at all fxp just says no route to host over and over even tried using explorer and typing the ftp ip and even with one digit less on that im just at the end of my tether and thought paying would be easyer

im really not advertising for him if you still feel this is so please feel free to delete my thread and i will continue the hunt for some help on the net

    cheers

No, no problem with the posts as such, was just wondering if you needed any assistance. Have you tried flashing a new image to the box using IFA ?

i will be really honest im absolutley stuck when it comes to flashing but i want to be able to do it myself so i can keep up with changes problem is i dont have a flash pc and these null modems and crossovers im not dumb buut am very limited with computer skills to be honest i tried ethernet cable from pc to box and changing ip setting on pc and nothing when i read a dbox for dummies i think it was even that made no sence not sure what that makes me exactly... i was hoping was a simple case of getting the null modem cable plugging it in and it was all detected but im far wrong and its not something i can go into a shop and ask for flash update...

I really dont know what to do i have read so many varients on guides and searched and still im stumped with it

i was hoping as my image is stable and has been for years that i could just add the fix to it by just using my ethernet cable that goes to my surfboard but it didnt seem to do much

Im happy with the image i use old sportster but get no channels even manual changing it

thanks for the reply and any any help however small it may be

If you don't have a crossover cable (and preferably a NULL MODEM as well), then you are wasting your time trying to do anything as it won't work. If you get the right cable(s) you will probably manage it but with the wrong cables you are only frustrating yourself.

Get the cable and you will be flying in no time!

It is definitely do-able, just make sure the NULL MODEM cable is a NULL MODEM cable, and not a standard 9 pin to 9 pin RS232 cable. Double check with the guy in the store! and if he gives you a blank look it is probably the wrong cable!!

He used to be known as slayer on ebay, this is his new profile. He supplied my box and set it up 18 months ago, reflashed it when it went down last week- no problem,£20. Though I live close by so I could drop the box in and pick it up at leisure.
Does what it says on the tin,no probs.
    Dunx.
