2248 posts since joining on 6/10/04. 2500 needed for addict status. No biggie, I don't post just to post. My posts are normally informative and consist of more than just one sentence. 2000 to 2500 seems like a very long hill to climb though. Good day to all. Mort
as long as you are helping and get a "THANK YOU" from someone, then that should be a reward good luck -Mort81-
Wow, (blushing) it's nice to feel welcome and appreciated. Thankyou everyone for the kind words. This has become my home away from home. Mort
Mort you will make it, the last 500 are like pulling teeth, but when you hit that 2500 you feel like someone just let the air out of your tires and in some ways you wish you could start all over again. Bet you get their by Labor Day. Anyone who gives out as much good information as you deserves it, I know I have learned much from your posts
Thanks arniebear. I apreciate the kind words and same applies to you buddy. We think a lot alike but you usually have already hit the reply button while I'm still peckin away therefor your post shows before mine and it looks like I just repeated what you said (you know what I mean). Thanks again Mr Addict and keep up the good work. Mort
.. This is my post #807 since March 15, 2004 ... It kinda looks like I'm on a pace to become addicted by July 2008 or so ... Oh well, I'm already addicted to life I don't need another addiction right now anyhow ..
@mort81 - you're doing good buddy, helping a shedload of people. I haven't been on here 2day apart from clearing my inbox as i was out of work for a meeting and worn out from driving. shall make up for it tomorrow. i'm catching ddp up, but only because once i get posting, i make my journey useful and get into mad copy/paste mode on the logfile posts etc
5625 but it gives me no pleasure to think a lot of those are about bad media, or from people debating that their bad media is in fact great media lol
As long as I know I do all I can to help fellow members, I feel good. Some nights I get on, and I get so caught up trying to help I lose track of time. That's when I get the feeling like I put in work and helped to make somebody's problem non-existent or explained something so they could understand it. Losing track of what's going on around me means I'm focused and that's good for everyone I'm trying to reply to. For me, the best feeling is when I know someone's online and I keep up with their replies and do my best to get them the quality answers they need in real-time. My personal goal is to read and study as many categories as possible. That way I can be of some help across the forum. Not just in 1 or 2 threads. Even though I may not drop post all over, I'm reading various threads everyday so I can learn what's new or better troubleshooting techniques. In the words of one Addict whom's post I've read a lot of... Words that any member of a forum should live by in my opinion.
....hence why i adapted ddp's phrase to 'tweak & burn' and use that sometimes as i tend to help out with burning stuff more than anything.. i've learnt a fair bit of good stuff around here (and still am) and try to make each journey useful (a phrase from my mum when i was growing up) and try to give back some of my knowledge by blatting thru a fair few posts in each sitting. to me it's never ending as each day there's always a swarm of replies to i tend to just go on auto and keep replying, and don't often step back and think how it feels, i suppose i'm a bit of a machine
I know what you mean, learning from each case. Sometimes I start to get tunnel vision and I may think one problem always has the same fix. That's usually when I learn the most, I'd catch myself before I actually post or hopefully edit before it's been seen, lol. I was in MSN Messenger the other with one member from aD trying to help him get access into his PC via his Xbox so he could access movies, music etc. We did everything under the sun I could think of...long story short...came to find out he didn't have a network setup sharing the folders he wanted to access. But the way the conversation was going I (for me) it was one of those assumed things. Almost 3 hours because of a small overlook..but I learned, LOL! Anyway, I love this site THANKS EVERYONE FOR ALL YOU GUYS DO...I'm learning everyday.
