I've modded other consoles before, namely PS2 and Xbox, but i'm new to the ds. I've been looking at these new 1-slot supercards and they seem very convenient but I'm still not to sure as to how they work. Are the new 1-slot cards reliable, what program do you use to put games on them. Also, what is a good sight to download roms?

If anyone could help a DS Noob out, I'd really appreciate it.

Yes they are reliable. (and it's Slot-1, not 1-slot)

None, Slot-1 devices do not need the games patching just copy them over in Windows/Linux/etc like you would with any USB device/Memory Card

www.dgemu.com is the only one I use, but it has a point system which can be a hassell to gtet round, I just rip most of the games from the carts myself, only downloading games not available in mt country.

None, Wait for the M3 Simply DS.

If you have to get one now get the DS-X, but your stuck with only 512MB of storage.

Wow, from those forum posts it seems like it'll only be $25-$40, that's awesome. I'll definitely wait for it.

Thanks a lot for the help.

Don't forget thats $25-$40 + the cost of a microSD card $20-$30 for 512MB on eBay.

So at most $70 for a 512MB slot-1 device, which is still ALOT less than a DS-X :)

I'm not exactly sure what the SD card is, why do you need it along with the new m3 slot-1?

Also I was looking at that dgemu site and it looks really annoying with the points. Do you know any really popular ds rom sites?

An SD card is a small memory card, you put the games on this, then put the card in the M3, the M3 reads the games off the card.

    MicroSD card:
    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/512-MB-MOTORO...2QQihZ013QQcategoryZ18871QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

SD Card Reader (to copy the games from the PC):

The advanatges of using MicroSD over hving inbuilt memory (like the DS-X has) are that you can choose how much memory you want (from 128MB to 2GB) andit is alot cheaper than those that use inbuilt memory (you can get twice the memory of the DS-X and it will still be cheaper)

    That sounds awesome.

Also for my other question, what is a really popular ds rom site, because that other one you linked looks annoying with the points system.

Thanks for all the help mr hanky, but if its ok, i just wanted to ask something to clear stuff up.

I'm still not exactly sure what I need to get. I'd like to buy the new m3 card for the dslite, but I thought you just used a straight usb connection. I'm not sure exactly how it works with the sd card, can you clarify?

The straight USB connection is only for the DS-X (as it has memory built in)

The M3 uses external memory to work (the MicroSD card) you connect the SD card to your computer using a card reader and copy your games onto the SD card, you then put the SD into the M3 and the M3 into the DS.

Withot an SD card the M3 will not work.

And the difference is that even though you have to buy the sd card and reader, it's still cheaper then the other card, and you can choose to have even more memory.

    Is that right?

Mr hanky I gotta thank you again for the awesome help today.

I'm probably going to get the sd card and the sd reader today or tommorow, so I'm wondering how big of an sd card I should get so that I can fit a decent amount of games on it, and if there's a certain brand of card or reader. I'll probably be buying it off of ebay, and I live in america if it helps at all.

Hi, I just bought an M3 perfect, with passcard 3 last week, I made the mistake of buying some PQI 2GB miniSD card that was really cheap! stay away from that brand lol, i tried 2 of them and both were trash, I bought a scandisk 1GB mini SD card and everything is running perfect, i have 18 game son it, they are really big games though. Its really easy to use, jsut make sure you don't buy cheap parts, like your card reader and SD card. Definetly stay away from PQI.

Oh and I think you should stick with 1 GB, 2 GB cards always have problems
