I've never had a problem before and have downloaded numerous .avi movies and burned them to DVD. All of a sudden, it no longer works. I keep getting error messages when starting to burn.

I use Nero Ultra 6.6.1.4 (recently updated). Using Nero Vision, I add the .avi files. It works fine during the 'creating menus & transcoding" sequence. In the preview window, the movie looks fine. Just as it's about to burn the file to a DVD, I get an error message that says "Burn Process Failed. An error log has been created." Same results with DVDSanta.

I know the movie is a good copy and have viewed it with VLC, Showtime, etc. According to GSpot and Codec Detective, I have all the proper/current codecs required. I've tried this with 3 different .avi movies and always get the same result.

Any ideas as to why this is happening or how I can fix it? Thanks.

that version of nero is relatively buggy.Try uninstalling it, run the clean tools and then either upgrade to version 7 series or back down to the last stable version 6.6.0.18

Actually, I removed my Nero program and all codecs, ran the clean tools, cleaned out my registry, loaded a new version of Nero 7, reinstalled all new codecs and I still had the identical problem.

This had me stumped for 2 weeks until I finally found the problem. It was the entire spindle of DVDs from CompUSA that were defective. As soon as I used a generic DVD from OFFICE Depot, one from Staples, a Maxell and a Fuji...all of them worked perfectly.

Needless to say, I returned the spindle to CompUSA and won't buy their generic discs again. I guess the addage: "You get what you pay for" holds true!
