Hi i have a QSI DVD +- SDW-082 and i am trying to burn a game. Well it says that i have burned the game but when i check the disc is empty. Im using some no name dvd-r disc but i have burned on them before and never had this problem. What could it be? Please Help.
probably the "no name media" although it's worked before you may of just got lucky (& probably in 6-12 months the "sucessful" disc will have nothing on it), media can be the cause of many many problems, invest in some TY, Verbatims, sony (made in japan) or equivelent & see if this doesn't end all your problems
I have some nice media but i just cant get them now so -_-... Well how can you get lucky with technology? you cant make a machine do something it cant do...
you "get lucky" by having a sucessful burn, it is just a figure of speech, you are more likely to get a high failure rate with cheap media. yes some will burn & work, but out of a 50 pack only 25 may burn sucessfully (for example dont quote the figures) & in a few months the "sucessful" burns may not even work. where as with quality media you should get 99-100% sucess rate & will be working for years to come, (we hope) i among many other in these forums have learnt our lesson with "cheap" media and nowadays you can get some excellent deals on quality media you are having issues burning & the first step would be to try a known quality media.
Can you post some of the MID codes of your media, both blank and successful backups? I'm not sure of what programs you got,but here's a free one that will tell us those codes: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd-r_tools/dvd_identifier.cfm Then we'll see if the MID codes changed. You'd be surprised at how many different manufacturers make 1 certain brand/speed rate/format of discs. Example: Maxell dash 4x: Ty-g01/Ritek-g04/Mxlrg-02/and Cmags for the same identical yellow top.4 different MID codes, and huge quality difference if using Ty-g01 and then getting a hold of the identical looking cmags. When you burn something, and then you get empty disc,it could also be a compatability issue.Again, media quality the likely culprit. Look at the bottom of that disc to see the discoloration from the actual burn and the part of the disc that may not have gotten burned.
