Sorry this is gonna be a bit long, but here goes....

I am trying to burn an image file from my HD onto a DVD+R with Nero (tried both Nero burning Rom - recorder/burn image & Nero Express) The burn process completes successfully but when I try playing the disc through Nero showtime I get "unexpected DVD error". I then installed imgburn & again it burnt successfully but same error in showtime.

Thought it might just be Nero playing up so tried it in my DVD player & it sounds as if it is loading the disc, my DVD player display says that it is on the Root menu but my TV still shows my DVD player screen saver. This happens on the discs burnt using Neoro & Imgburn.

I have tried different image files & all do the same thing. I have tried playing the disc in windows media player, nothing, I have also tried in a different DVD player, nothing either. I even bought a different make of DVD+R's, again no change.

I then thought it might be my DVD burner so I burnt some AVI files & they work absolutely fine on PC & DVD player????

I have burnt a ton of discs, the last one I did worked great. The first one that had this error was burnt straight after the last one I did that worked!!

Please, please, please help me before I lose my sanity!!!

    hi

yes you got some odd shizz going on here? this disc that doesnt work did it come from a new batch of dvd+rS ?

are you booktyping the dvd+r to dvdrom for better comaptibility in most players?

if the burnt dvd+r after burning wont play on pc the structure of the files/folder could be wrong?

what software did you use to make the dvd and from what files?

    ----
nero showtime is very inconsistant for me (im not keen on it)
    ====

i use powerDVD or WMP or even better VLC (free)

to me it sounds like the burning/making of the files could be wrong? check all settings!!! if all good to go then could be more serious and be your drive??? not sure need more info...

ive known discs be read in drives and when burnt not!

The original DVD+R that I used was on of the last ones on a spindle so I bought a whole new load, different manufacturer, and still the same problem

Sorry dont know what 'booktyping' is but I do know that when I burnt the ISO through Nero it automatically sets the book type to DVD ROM, is this right???

I got the ISO from newsleecher, I extracted files with winrar & it created the ISO file. The other strange thing I have just found is if I play the ISO file from my HD, on Nero showtime, it actually loads the DVD menu & I am able to watch random sections of the file???

Do you think it is my drive even though I am still able to burn AVI files & play them with no problem???

try loading this ISO into dvd shrink ?

you sure nero is set to booktype? just trying to think of an app that will read the dvdr to check booktype?

i think dvd info pro will check if the disc is booktyped?

from what you say about playing the iso it could be discs? and last one in other batch a 1 off?

what dye info is on these new batch discs? and old ones?

I have tried 'file' 'open disc image' to browse for the ISO, when I select the folder that the file is in & select the ISO I get the following error

DVD shrink encountered an error connot continue
Failed to seek in file "ISO File"

Discs used were Tuffdisc 16x DVD+R and I coastered about 4 of them!
The new discs I got where Datawrite 16x DVD+R
dont have any dye information for either of them

Dont know if this is relevant but I have been told that it might be cos my HD is FAT32 as the original file I downloaded was 4.8GB in size?? When extraced with winrar the ISO on my HD says it is only 3.99GB.

    yes

the iso is 4gig and TOO BIG for fat32! so you need to extract the iso

i think winrar can do this and then fat32 can read 1gig chucks of vob ok!

so need to open iso and get the video ts and audio ts out in folders/files to burn!

also not sure on tuff discs? but heard of datawrite in cdr there good not sure on dvdr?

you can change your system to ntfs with no change to you system!

    -------------------

if keeping your fat32 system? unpack the iso with winrar or whatever app you use, then load files instead to dvd shrink just to test folder/files structure is ok...
