Im using Avitodvd to convert an avi file to dvd so i can burn to disc but the iso.image file is not there on completion, i have the make iso checkbox ticked but it still doesnt create it. the only movie file i get is a M2V file which is an mpeg2 video stream file....any suggestions anyone as to what i might be doing wrong.
Alas, the 'DVD making' procedd has two fundamental steps: 1) encoding (AVI --> M2V; sound stream(s) ---> (WAV, AC3, DTS, MPA) 2) authoring of the DVD (create the image using the video, the sound steram(s) + other fancy stuff, like subtitles and chapters, if you want them) ) (+ burn) Therefore you're just at about 50% of the process. Just to lear something, download the freeware ReJig, open it and click on 'DVD author'. You'll see that, to make a DVD (image) you need: a) video b) audio c) subpicture (.SUP subtitles) d) chapters position (.TXT) You might lean some stuff on how 'authoring' on http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/ . Remember that 'authoring' is NOT 'encoding'. Some lame application, like Nero for instance, try to 'encode' the movies you want to fit in a DVD, if they haven't the 'perfect' characteristics. Fir instance, only DVD Lab (for what I kniow) allows to you to put multiple (450' movies) VCD movies on a DVD. Nero tries to re-encode a 352x240 VCD movie into a 720x480 DVD movie, if you want to 'author' one, with the results you can imagine (same low quality, max 155' instead of 450'...).
