I wasnt sure where to put this seeing that Im new here. I tried to do a search to put it in the appropriate spot. Well I have been using AnyDVD, dvdshrink, and imgburn for a little while with no problems. But lately it has been giving me some problems. I will back it up with shrink and burn with imgburn. Imgburn will go through the verify thing, the ejects and goes back in, then starts burning. After about 4 percent it shows an error and says something like: illegal mode for this track. I am using Sony DVDrs because I hear they are the best. I have a hp dvd writer 740b I got last December and have updated its firmware. Here is the log: I 16:30:12 Writing LeadIn... Hi mojo7734 AnyDVD can interfere w/ the verification of the dvd w/ ImgBurn. You can turn it off when ImgBurn starts burning if you like. Me personally I rarely use the verification option when burning. I rely more on playback. So playback this disc and see how it is - may be just fine.
I agree with Binkie...the verification process is just to ensure that the data burned onto the disc is bit for bit identical to the source that it was burned from. This doens't mean that the disc is unplayable, although reripping the backup may be a problem.
Well I always leave anydvd running only when I am ripping the dvd, but when I am actually burning the dvd i turn it off. I have tried playing the dvds and since it been stopping at 4 % there is not much on the dvd...maybe menus and a little bit of the movie. Im not sure whats goin on.
Your burner was doing something for 13 minutes, and successfully at that...let's see the rest of the log above what you've already posted.

When the burn is complete does the burner tray eject and then go back in before the verify process starts?
Underneath the "Destination" just uncheck the "verify" button and you'll be ok for your next burning process. Just make sure to use 1st class media like genuine Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim and Maxell (Made In Japan by Hitachi Corp.), burn no higher than 8X and you'll be fine.
As stated above...the verify process isn't necessary. Untick the verify option and burn away. The burned backup does play properly doesn't it?
I unchecked the unverify and played two different discs I burned this way. They both pause and skip towards the beginning of the movie. @mojo7734 Sony's are good - you just may have come across a bad spindle or your drive may not like them though it does look like it recognizes them. Try the ones 300bowler suggested 1st.
I have been using Sonys for the last few months with no problems. And I have two Sony spindles. I used dvdrs from both. Can the computer decide just not to read a certain brand anymore?
Before the sonys I was using HP Dvd+rs and those were skipping, so I switched to Sonys and worked better but has been giving me nothing but problems lately.
Hmmm... I wonder how big is the ISO that your burning? If it's over 4GB, then it's wise to convert your D drive (FAT32) to NTFS because FAT32 doesn't support any files over 4GB. I've checked with RPC forum and there isn't any firmware for your HP burner. Have you checked or contact HP to see if there's any new firmware for your drive yet? Those are the only 2 main reasons I see that may be the problem.
@alkohol How would I convert my D drive to NTFS? I have only updated my firmware once since I have had it. There has been no other updates since my last one. I have checked on the HP site.
