latly i'm trying to embed subtitles into AVI , the purpose is that i will be able tho watch the subtitles when playing the avi file on my DVDivx machine.

i was trying to use VirtualDubMod to do this but with no success what so ever.

anyone got any good idea ? some simple plan?

Think I could go as far as to say that most player support external srt's. To just embed subs, use AVIMuxGUI, however I am not aware of any hardware players that can playback embeded subs in an avi. If the player is divx certified then it will support xsubs in .divx files, other wise you are stuck with hard encoding which it sounds like you were doing anyway. What exactly were you doing in VDubMod and what went wrong? Should be a simple matter of loading the avi, setting video to full processing, loading the subs via vsfilter, setting up the video codec options and saving.

Well I did say that it reduced compatibility. Works fine with Media Player Classic. Also works fine with directvobsub and should work with ffdshow. Don't think it will work with VLC either though.
