I have numerous albums (files saved in named folder) in MP3 format which I imported into Itunes ok. However most do not have artist/ track name details so I just get a long list of Track 01's and Track 02's etc from all albums mixed up. Why does itunes not see the induvidual named folders on my hard disk and is there a way round it without having to add artist/track names to everything which would take forever?

With my old Archos MP3 player I could simply drag the named album folders on to it but itunes just shows all songs mixed up and the folder name is ignored. Thanks

archos music players are structured very differently to the iPod, both in design & interface... And a lot of the Archos mp3 players / pmp's use the filenames rather than actually names of the song title, artist etc.. so you should use a program like tag&rename to distribute the details of the filename into the correct categories, and then you will find that they will show up in iTunes correctly :)

Cheers, that sounds like it may work. Where can I get this prog and I guess its still gonna be pretty time consuming with about 80Gb of stuff to trawl through?!

It may take a while, but you won't have to actually rename most of them, it's just a case of switching things around :)
