I'm having a right old time trying to make a back up of said trilogy.

dvdshrink and dvd x copy won't even scan the disks..Would this be related to the new Safedisk ?

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to overcome this ?

    Am using Sony dw-u10a dvdshrink 3.0 & 2.3
    dvd x copy plat (newest)..thanks

What about ripping it with DVD Decrypter?

I haven't tried these yet so I'm only guessing.

IMHO....DVD Decrypter - DVD shrink and BurnatOnce will usually copy anything. DVDXcopy (Gold -Platinum etc) will not do a good a job as the three freebies..

I've found the problem and it's embarassing..

dvd decrypter reports that the dvd drive needs to be set to region 1..I forgot i ordered it on an import..I feel a right tit....

I was thinking it was a setting or something, "Raiders" was the first DVD-R I ever burned. I used DVDShrink and it came out fine.

well, there we go...always getting caught out by the stupidest things...Backed-up fine.,..

thanks to Ken in particular, if decrypter hadn't gave me the region message i could've been banging my head for a lot longer

This isn't stupid. Stupid would be if you were putting in the DVD upside down... er, unless it's a flipper! ;-)
