I recently installed a cd burner in my daughter's pc. She has 2 hard drives and XP Professional. After installing the burner, the second hard drive dissapeared and it wouldn't read the burner. I know the burner is good, because I was using it in my pc. I would take it out and re-install the regular cd player that was in it, and the hard drive was there and it read the cd player. I did this 3 different times, and the same thing happened each time. Any suggestions? Thanks!

check the jumper blocks on the back of your burner make sure they are set the same as the ones on the old cd you removed ie. master slave cs

The cd player that I removed was set to "master". The one I was trying to install in its place was set to "cable select". I changed it to "master" and tried again. Same result. The second hard drive dissapears and it won't read the burner. I put the player back in and everything's fine. Thanks for the help though.
