installing OS on newly built pc

    how do you install an os on a new pc which has nothong on it .
    by the way i have win xp pro cd

    boot off the xp cd, partition & format the hd before loading xp

    when i try to boot off the cd nothing happens
    like i insert in to the cd drive when the pc is starting up and nothing happens after that

    you need to boot off the cd... you can do this in two ways,
    1) you can set the optical device as the primary boot device, usually by pressing the delete button, or you can press the Esc button on reboot when the computer starts to restart and choose your cd or dvd drive to boot from...
