I have a Advent ERT2250 laptop with windows vista installed but my cd drive is not reading any discs.

I also need to re-install my vista operating system but as my cd drive is not working I need an alternate way to install it.

I have heard that I can boot over LAN but I have tried this a couple of times today with another laptop connected via crossover cable and also both connected through a network hub but with no luck.

    Please can somebody help.

    Thanks.

    Marcus.

Hi, you should check in the Bios and make sure boot from Lan or network device is enabled. If you have an external hd, you can boot from usb. You have to make sure usb boot is enabled in the Bios. You can also buy an adapter $10-20ca for IDE to USB devices and use either hd or optical drive.
