I have recently formatted my laptop. Unfortunately, my laptop CD drive is broken, or defective. When I insert the XP CD, after formatting and everything, it gets to 80% copying files and then cannot copy more, (Comes up with the message ignore, skip, retry etc.) Then I tried it with Vista, is said the same thing. My CD is broken. Is there anyway I can install windows from a network? Or any other way?
depending on how big the Windows disc is you may be able to copy the files to a flash drive (if you have one) and install them that way. I really do not know of a way to do this through a network. Possibly even a USB external hard drive could be used if you have one of can get one.
if bios is cabable of booting off an usb drive then get an external rom driver whether a reader or burner.
Thanks for all the help. No bios is not capable of booting from USB. New development however, I managed to install a linux distro. Is there anyway this can help?
I think I mis-typed. As I know my Desktop can boot from usb, I was saying that my laptop cannot. Mis-Typed. Sorry.
