    Hi,

I have a laptop with windows vista but there are lots of incompatable programs that i need to use so i want to install windows xp as an extra operating system.

as there are compatability problems between partition magic and vista i cant make a new partition for the windows xp installation to be installed in so when i start my computer with the xp disk inside and i get to the point where it asks me to choose a partition for xp to be installed in i want to choose a different folder which i have already made in my C drive but when i type in the folder it keeps saying that it cannot recognise the folder name.

How must i type in the folder name in the dos xp setup screen at the beginning of the xp installation???

Any help would be very much appreciated.

    Thank you.

as far as making partitions goes just go to (in vista) computer management then on the left tool bar thing there will be a disk management button, click that and there u can make partitions

Actually no, you need to boot Vista from CD to create a partition.
