    HI

    i was wodering if someone can help me installing xp on my pc

    i got a new 250gb seagate ata sata harddrive and am trying to install windows xp on it, heres whats happening, after it formats and installs all the files then windows restarts after this i get the BSOD heres the code;

    STOP: 0x0000007b (0xf79b1528,0c0000034,0x00000000,0x00000000)

    so i installed xp on one of my ide harddrives and it works perfect but its only 10gig lol hence the reason i want to install on my 250gb ata hdd, for some reason i always get the bsod when trying to install a fresh windows xp on any sata drives but all ide hdd instals perfectly with no problem.

    if someone can help

    thank you

    Stop 0x07B's are usually hardware based. And since you didn't post what kind of motherboard you're using, I can only assume that maybe that board requires you to install the SATA drivers during XP setup. (The press F6 option you get at the beginning of XP setup)

    Also...make sure the motherboard's BIOS has the latest firmware version so you know it supports large drives with 48bit LBA. (access to drives over 137GB)

    i have a phonex bois motherboard, ok i installed xp on it

    heres what i did:

    i installed xp to my 10gig ide harddrive then i booted up seagate harddrive maintance disc which i downloaded of there website and burned to c-r

    after booting the seagate disc theres a option to copy harddrive files and boot files to another harddrive, then i copied it to my sata harddrive and took the ide drive out now its working.

    hope this helps anyone else having same problem
