i am trying to instal xp on a spare hard drive, windows formats the drive and installs folders etc, then it gets to the point where it reboots, and on start up should start the time down installing windows, but it does not it seems to be in a loop and wants to start over from the beginning again. i have tried about twenty times, always the same, would you suspect a faulty hard drive or what, every thing is recognised proper in the bios at start up, i have installed windows many times but never had this before. can anyone help. bobbie
well you don't. After it's copied the files you ignore the "press any key to boot from CD" and use the hard disk to boot instead.
Don't press anything when it says "press any key to boot from CD" and it should carry on with the install.
Why Dont you just go back to bios set up and change the option to boot from the Hard drive first, then cd or how every you want.........
