Hello... My harddrive recently died on my laptop, so I must buy a new one. The thing is, my internal CD-RW drive died a while ago. My question is: can I install Windows XP on the brand new hard drive from an external CD-RW drive(USB), or must I use an internal CD drive? In other words, can I boot from a USB CD-RW drive that a new harddrive hasn't recognized before? Thanks... B.
I'm not exactly sure what you mean. But when I go to Setup (F2), I can change the boot order from cd/dvd/cdrw to internal hdd, to "modular HDD", whatever that is. Is this what you mean? And is modular HDD an external harddrive?
Nothing about USB, so I suppose not. I'm not familiar with fiddling with those sorts of settings, so I thought there may have been something I merely didn't understand or a screen I wasn't getting access to...
