Please help. I have tried everything to find out about this error with no luck. Basically what happens is I rip the disk 9either to HD or just disc to disc) and everything is fine. It says to insert a blank disc so it can record. EVERY TIME I insert a disc it wastes the first one but the second one burns fine. What could be causing this? Why would #1 die but #2 always burn with no problems? Specifics: Pioneer DVR-K16 drive Verbatim 16X DVD-R A copy of the error is below. Any ideas?
Sorry looks like the image didn't come through. Also, let me add that I have tried every suggestion below. I also have auto-notification turned off in the drive properties, using TweakXP AND in the registry (i thought that may have been the problem). At first I thought maybe i had a bad batch 9although verbatim are usually good) but the pattern is too precise. 1st bad, 2nd good - every time. there must be something else. Here is the error: ***begin error*** Hardware error: Write 32768 sectors at position 112 Error Information: Writing was stopped because of a "buffer underrun". The disc is unusable. To prevent a "buffer underrun" and increase the efficiency of data writing, please try one of the following: -If your drive supports "Burn Proof" enable it. -Reduce writing speed -Enable "Write to hard disc first" option -Do not start any application during data writing. -Set the data transfer mode to DMA. -Disable any screen savers during data writing. -Deactivate Power Management and Windows Active Desktop. -Defrag HD. -Uninstall any other recording software. -Disable Ant--virus software. -Close any other program while burning. I believe I've found the answer. If you leave AnyDVD running while trying to burn with Instantcopy I think it causes problems. it seems that as Instantcopy starts to burn anyDVD will try to read the blank disc causing an error. I may be wrong but disabling anydvd has allowed me to burn trouble free for 8 discs now. I'll re-post if I continue to have any problem.
