Ehh... Open up HijackThis. Do a scan and place a check beside the following: R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing Click "Fix Checked". How's your Internet?
well that did make it work alittle longer, 10 mins almost, but then it stopped, thank you again guys, anymore suggestions?
hey Fredil, that didn't work either, it worked for a couple minutes then stopped saying the page cannot be displayed as always, anything else i can try? thank you, Will.
Aw, hell... Open Internet Explorer. Click on the "Tools" menu, and click "Internet Options". Click on the "Connections" tab. There will be three buttons to never dial a connection, dial when default is missing, or dial always. Tell me which one is selected. Next, click on LAN Settings. Tell me which boxes are checked. Post another HijackThis log.

My internet seems to be starting to work a bit, because now after it stops working if i wait a little while it will start working again for 10 mins or so then it stops, i hope that means we're going in the right direction, thanks again, Will.
Odd... HijackThis shouldn't be getting more things in Safe Mode. Can you boot into safe mode and give me a log? It could be some exotic virus that I've never heard about.

hello Fredil, my isp is Telus highspeed, i have a 2wire gateway 2700 modem/router from telus aswell. and my wireless laptop works fine and i just wired it direct and it works fine. my desktop computer the internet will only work for about 5 or 6 mins then it stops, if i wait about 10 mins it will work again. Fredil if you need anymore info just ask and i will try to provide you with it, thank you again for all of your time, Will.
Clear everything in LAN Settings and see if that helps. It might, but more likely won't. If it doesn't, restore your original settings. I'm at a complete loss, actually. Try posting at a few different forums. I'm sorry, but my help ends here
computer must have some kind of virus, it just started going super slow i clicked on my computer 3 mins ago and its still not doing anything, cpu usage is maxed out a 100%, thank you Fredil for all of your time, Will.
If it's a virus, this would either fix it or clear up some possibilities. Download SmitFraudFix. Save it to your desktop (SmitFraudFix.exe) but do not run it yet. Reboot your computer into Safe Mode and log in to your regular account. Run SmitFraudFix.exe. Press any key to skip the credits screen, and you will be at a menu. Press "2" and hit "Enter". SmitFraudFix will attempt to clean your computer. When it is done, it will prompt you to do a Disk Cleanup. This is also imperative if your computer is running at 100%. Do not interrupt it until it is finished. When it is done, you will be asked to clean the registry. Press "y". Note that doing this option will delete your desktop background, so you may want to make a backup of that. Reboot your computer normally. Then, go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Defragmenter. Defragment your C: drive. It may take a couple of hours, as will the Disk Cleanup, but I find it to usually be worth it. When it is finished, press Ctrl-Alt-Delete. This should bring up the Task Manager. Click on the "Processes" tab; at the bottom, it should say "CPU Usage: ##%". If that number is high and you have no other programs running, that's not good. Now, in the chart above, there should be a column saying "CPU". Scroll down the list and find which item has the highest number there, and tell me that item in your reply.
hey Fredil, did everything you said, cpu usage is at 0% and the highest process is System Idle Process 99 CPU.
Good. I see it helped with the 100% CPU-Usage-Lagging-Your-***-Off problem. Anything else I can help you with? Would you like fries with that?
thats all Fredil, oh not yet one more ?, could my internet problem be with my nic card? if not i think i will just reload windows, thank you again for all of your time, Will.
