All of a sudden my internet explorer started to take like 5 min to open. Broadband connection, good computer, used to be really fast. Tried turning off mcafee and scanned for viruses and spyware but no luck. Anyone have any ideas? Cleared memory and defrag'd too.

If you want to use IE then try uninstalling, updating to the latest version, and reinstalling.

However, [bold]why are you using IE?[/bold]

    What you want, is FireFox...
    http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/

Download that. It is much safer, uses tabbed browsing, come free of spyware...need I go on....

Agreed with Ripper, if you want why not try Opera 9?

Some people may like IE I guess....

    Hi ohan76,

Try clearing the browsers cache, then re-opening it and see it it does any good.

I'd like you to do the following:

Close all instances of browsers, now run ATF cleaner.

    ATF-Cleaner

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune from here. Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
    Under Main choose: Select All
    Click the Empty Selected button.

    Now, do this:

    *Go Start > Control Panel.

    *Double-click Internet Options.

*Under Temporary Internet Files, click the Settings button.

    *Click the View Files button.

*Press CTRL+A to select all files.

*Press DEL or click the Delete option at the top of the window.

*Click the Yes button on the dialog box that appears.

*After all the files are gone, close the window.

    *Click OK two times.

    *Close Control Panel.

    Now open IE, any luck?

Tried all the stuff you said to do rav, but no good. Still took forever to open. So I went with the other suggestions and hooked up firefox. Works great. Thanks for the help everyone. Never knew about the fox.
