Internet explorer

    Basically I've had a pc reformat and i got da net on my pc but da internet explorer icon on my desktop has for some reason disappeared so i dont have a proper webpage and access the net by going onto start, search and on the internet. Can someone help me and tell me how I can get my icon back onto the desktop please?

    what windows are you running. win98 & me internet explorer icon is atthe bottom of the screen just to the right of the start button. you can also go to start, programs & you'll find internet explorer, do a right click with mouse, send to,desktop(create shortcut) & you'll have internet explorer icon back on your desktop

    I'm on windows xp...my internet explorer isnt in my taskbar so I cant really create a shortcut from that and its not in the start, programs menu either, it seems to have disappeared althogether. There are no traces of it :-(

    yeh I did try that but it didnt seem to work, the internet icon did not come up but other icons instead.

    @Harpz

    click start -- SEARCH -- Files or Folders !

    On All Files and Folders -- CLICK

    Type in the window : iexplorer.exe and Click Search

    When you see it in the result window -- Right click the one that's in your Program Files folder and select
    Send To --> Desktop (create Shortcut)

    @ ddp - Icons such as my internet folders cum up buh dats it really. I reformat my pc because I had a lot of problems with it. There wasnt enough RAM and it kept constantly crashing and freezing, so I thought a fresh start would be best.

    @ Jeanc1 - I followed your instructions and it said search is complete and that no files were found. Some reason I'm starting to fink that maybe I've deleted the icon.

    ~~If you search and have not found iexplore.exe --- you dont have Internet Explorer on your PC -- that's probably why you dont see your icon !


    That is weird cause you are in this forum !

    try reloading windows on top of it self & see what happens, also how much ram is in your system

    well...since u having a problems with IE..like everybody else here is a hint.....get rid of it dont use it , it suck ....instead get a Mozilla Firefox ist a lot better and comes with a build in pop up blocker..since i switched to it. i never had any problems with it. Its far better than IE and i recomend it 2 enybody.
